JOB SUMMARY 
 
The Director of Driver Safety and DOT Compliance will be responsible for managing the safety program for all Company Drivers and Owner Operators under PFS Logistics operating authority.  Currently PFS Logistics has drivers in the following markets; NJ, CA, TX, FL and is soon to have drivers in IL, PA, & MA.  This director role shall oversee all Hours of Service (HOS) log compliance, Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR), Driver incidents and equipment DOT compliance for the PFSL fleet. At current, the fleet includes 190 chassis with gen-set mounts, 40 reefer trailers, a refrigerated 26 foot straight truck and 20 tractors.  The Safety Director will be required to utilize our electronic log system to monitor and ensure Hours of Service compliance for all drivers. Performance shall be measured by regular monitoring of the SMS scores for our Motor Carrier number. Be accountable for maintaining maintenance and safety logs for all equipment; in coordination with the Fleet Administrator. There will also be a regular interaction with our Insurance and Finance teams coordinating the safety program.  
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitate the DOT Compliance and Driver safety programs for company drivers and Owner Operators.  
  • Utilize TMW Safety & Compliance Module, as well as HOS e-log system to monitor and track driver compliance. 
  • Ensure that the information is readily available to Operations to provide our clients with the highest levels of customer service.
  • Maintain constant communication with operations; solutions based “can do” attitudes and consummate professionalism throughout the transportation lifecycle. 
  • Assist in the development sustainable cost-effective solutions that leverage Preferred Freezer Services (PFS) inbound and outbound volume, systems, and partnerships. 
  • Assist in the creation and implementation a transportation capacity strategy that includes contingency plans to support varying levels of company sales and changes to supply/demand patterns including market/capacity driven price fluctuations.
  • Follow existing processes and procedures to ensure daily execution of transportation policies, operating standards, and service level agreements. 
  • Assist in the development and support the use of key performance indicators (KPIs), metrics and periodic reporting to help drive execution and process uniformity and compliance across all regions and with all clients and transportation providers.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety / Compliance, Business and/or Supply Chain/Logistics discipline preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience or equivalent in Safety / DOT Compliance required
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years of experience as a Safety Manager or similar role/function 
  • Experience with regulatory compliance and HOS software packages. (ex. TMW, Omnitracks preferred) 
  • Ability to effectively communicate with individuals/groups from varied backgrounds and skill levels 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills, and implementation and facilitation skills
