Preferred Freezer Services of Los Angeles has an excellent opportunity for an HR Manager. 

Position Summary

Under general supervision of the Human Resources Director, the Human Resources Manager is responsible for
managing employee relations, communication, training and development, compensation, recruitment, staff
planning, performance management, worker’s compensation, and all other HR functional areas. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains compliance with state and federal employment laws as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Tracks and reports on HR metrics.
  • Tracks employee statistics for mandatory government reporting.
  • Provides direction to ensure fair and equitable administration wage and benefit programs.
  • Consults with the Human Resources Director to ensure fair and equitable administration wage and benefit programs.
  • Maintains positive employee relations ensuring union-free environments, including the identification of breaches of culture/values that impact the work environment.
  • Investigates employee relations issues and partners with the Human Resources Director to resolve.
  • In conjunction with the Human Resources Director, analyzes turnover to identify trends and develop
  • retention strategies.
  • Ensures the availability of an adequate, well trained workforce to support the operational goals of the facility by partnering with operations to recruit and retain a diverse workforce. Sources Candidates, screens resumes, arranges interview team schedules, and ensures compliance to all company policy and procedure related to hiring.
  • Works with managers to ensure performance reviews are done timely and accurately.
  • Works with Human Resources Director to develop employee improvement plans.
  • Drives and executes company HR initiatives.
  • Oversees and/or conducts new employee orientation, conducts training, including management development training in HR related areas (interviewing, coaching etc.).
  • Ensures employee files are maintained in accordance with company policy.
  • Oversees annual open enrollment meetings.
  • Works with the Health and Safety Department to manage worker’s compensation claims.
  • Represents Company at unemployment hearings and other employee-related proceedings.
  • Travels to local sites as required (25%-30%)
  • Performs other duties and special projects as needed.


  • BA/BS degree with minimum of 7 -10 years of broad-based HR experience in a generalist capacity; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience dealing directly with members of senior management.
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
  • Recent HRIS experience including effective use and practice of common reporting techniques.
  • HR Certification, preferred, but not required.
  • ADP iReports desired, but not required.

  • Ability to relate professionally and positively to corporate and divisional staff and work cooperatively with co-workers at all levels.
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive issues.
  • Knowledge of federal and applicable state employment laws.
