JOB SUMMARY:

The Director of Transportation will be accountable for managing the transportation operations for PFS Logistics. This role is directly responsible for our Truckload, LTL and Walmart programs; supporting new business and managing existing business for this Preferred Freezer Services division.  A successful candidate will be the key administrator ensuring exceptional service while managing operational costs for our nationwide transportation network, servicing all domestic Preferred Freezer Services operations. The director will drive profitability and growth, in line with company vision and values.  Goals will be set to establish strategies to expand and support the customer base while contributing to the development of the logistics operations team.    

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain and improve the operating plan and strategy for the US Transportation program, which ensures attainment of customer satisfaction goals, while exceeding profitability targets. 
  • Provide our clients with the highest levels of customer service; maintain constant client and carrier communications, solutions based “can do” attitudes and consummate professionalism throughout the transportation lifecycle.
  • Identify and prioritize client’s logistics needs, partner with warehouse operations and logistics to communicate recommendations to management in order to achieve a holistic, efficient and effective end to end product distribution model.
  • Assist in the development sustainable cost-effective solutions that leverage Preferred Freezer Services (PFS) inbound and outbound volume, systems, and partnerships.
  • Follow existing processes and procedures to ensure daily execution of transportation policies, operating standards, and service level agreements.
  • Assist in the development and support the use of key performance indicators (KPIs) and productivity standards to help drive execution, process uniformity and achieve performance goals. 
  • Adhere to existing logistics processes and apply both industry and organizational best practices.
  • Drive implementation of company operating plans, as well as continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Work with the sales team to provide timely and accurate pricing of existing and prospective customer engagements to strive to maximize profit margin.

 JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain/Logistics, Business and/or Engineering preferred
  • 5-10 years of experience in logistics, specifically intermodal management with demonstrated ability to lead a work team to provide outstanding service at acceptable profit goals
  • Experience with TMS software / tools (Profit Tools, TMW, Accellos, SageProX3, SalesForce.com, Omnitracs, etc.)
  • Proven leadership and ability to drive service excellence, profitability and meet targets Extensive experience in all aspects of drayage and common carrier relationship management.  
  • Maintain contacts, relationships and a proven track record with Steamship lines and other logistics / transport company decision makers
  • Position requires willingness to work a flexible schedule and occasional travel 3PL or Cold Storage experience strongly recommended
