Job Description:

The HSE Coordinator is responsible for implementing, and maintaining the policies, programs, and procedures for Preferred Freezer Services Health, Safety, and Environmental management system. The HSE Coordinator will ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, FDA, USDA, local and state requirements. As part of a team, the HSE Coordinator will support one location and other departments within as necessary.

Job functions include but are not limited to:

  • Participates actively in the management of the facility to enforce policies and directions to achieve compliance and drive improvement within the HSE programs. 
  • Implement and maintain the HSE safety and food safety programs. Responsible for compliance with all applicable HSE and corporate management standards. 
  • Must be able to work occasionally with customers and manage outside contractors. 
  • Ensures that all applicable internal and external reporting requirements are performed accurately and in a timely manner. 
  • Conducts workplace surveys, safety audits and assessments. Advises management of conditions requiring corrective action and work with them to develop solutions and monitor follow through.
  • Delivers HSE briefings and training sessions as appropriate to fulfill regulatory requirements and foster a safe working environment.
  • Performs accident investigations to determine probable cause and produces and maintains necessary documentation and permits. 
  • Maintains required site permits and licenses. 
  • Operating forklift material handling equipment (MHE).
  • Maintains required records in accordance with regulatory, and PFS requirements, such as, PPE, training, certifications, inspections, audits, etc. 

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in a related discipline or 1-2 years of experience with safety or food safety programs.
  • Experience with OSHA programs such as Walking Working Platforms, Haz-Comm, Ergonomics, Lockout-Tag-out, Emergency Response, Powered Industrial Trucks, and other related OSHA requirements stated in 29 CFR 1910.
  • Work is performed in multiple environments to include office, outside, USDA room, and freezers.
  •  
  • Willing to perform warehouse labor (MHE Operation / Hand Loading / Unloading / Housekeeping) during slow periods and as part of employee training / observation methods.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Bi-Lingual (Spanish)
  • Familiar with Process Safety Management
  • Experience in a warehouse facility.
