The General Manager (GM) is responsible for the overall performance of the warehouse, including but not limited to operations, customer service, and office operations. The GM plans, organizes staffs, directs, and controls all warehouse activities for the facility. The selection, professional development, and motivation of all warehouse employees are key responsibilities. The GM assists top management in establishing warehouse performance objectives and strategic planning. The GM is also responsible for the profitability of the facility. The GM is accountable for achieving prescribed company objectives regarding cost, productivity, customer service, profits. The GM is a direct link to reassuring all customer expectations are met. This position reports to the EVP of Operations and Supply Chain.

Primary Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Ensure the implementation of systems and procedures for operating and managing physical facilities, equipment and products
  • Plan, Direct and implement warehouse operations and administrative support to meet prescribed productivity and service goals
  • Monitor all inventory, open order, zero lot, bad ticket, production, injury, pallet reports.
  • Monitor all alarm and surveillance camera activity
  • Work with Customer Service, Inventory and production to research, approve and report all customer claims
  • Operate in compliance with federal, state and local statutes
  • Conduct effective communications with employees, customers and management staff
  • Partner with Human Resources in staffing and development of employees, including ensuring the operation has effective leaders at all levels
  • Ensure training and follow through is met for all warehouse information systems to facilitate the efficient operations of the warehouse
  • Remain knowledgeable regarding changes in hardware and software updates
  • Assist in the establishment of customer service standards for all accounts and communicate these standards to all employees
  • Assure each account receives the required level of operations and administrative support
  • Maintain appropriate contact with all accounts and respond to requests when required
  • Track, monitor and report daily sales, tonnage, inbound and outbound activity as required
  • Upon direction from corporate office, develop, submit and recommend financial budgets and statements
  • Approve daily payables
  • Develop and manage a system of controls to ensure that service levels and operational performance goals are met within prescribed cost, revenue and profit parameters
  • Procure equipment and facilities required to assure efficient operation meet company profit goals
  • Develop suitable programs for maintaining company standards of sanitation, maintenance, security, housekeeping and safety of equipment and facilities in a manner that assures their most efficient operation
  • Implement all Health, Safety and Environmental training for the facility and work in conjunction with the HSE Department with program roll outs


  • Bachelor degree plus a minimum 5+ years of progressive experience in management in the 3PL or direct distribution of temperature controlled goods (Will consider 10+ years without a degree)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA, EPA, HACCP, Cooke and Thurber (or equivalent) and other regulatory/compliance issues that fall within Environmental Health and Safety
  • Proven track record of continuous improvement and advancement
  • P&L responsibility including budgeting and reporting

  • Proven knowledge of WMS systems and how they maximize operational efficiencies and effectiveness (Red Prairie experience a plus)
  • RF/Voice technology experience
  • Strong coaching, training and motivational skills; ability to lead a team
  • Bilingual Spanish a plus
