Position Summary:

As part of the Finance department, the Senior Accountant will work together with Finance department team and primarily will be responsible to review and validate the accuracy of internal financials for specific freezers in a region making sure they are in accordance with GAAP.  The Senior Accountant will have a high degree of visibility and interaction with freezer personnel (Warehouse Administrator, General Manager, Sales Manager and Office Manager) as well as with Corporate personnel including Operations, Sales, Information Technology and Human Resources. The Senior Accountant will prepare financial and analytical review analyses to assist in understanding the material fluctuations in the freezers results against budget and prior year, assist in the external year-end audit, annual budgeting process, monthly revenue reporting, maintaining Company’s capital expenditures and related depreciation, streamlining accounting processes, annual tax return preparation and miscellaneous tax filings as well as various other projects that arise impacting Corporate Finance

Primary Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the monthly close process which includes recording all applicable entries required for applicable freezers and making sure the financials are in accordance with GAAP. Understanding the freezer’s operations through analyses and analytical review procedures as well as inquiry with freezer personnel comparing actual results to budget and prior year.
  • Assist with the preparation of consolidated financial statements (domestic and international).
  • Assist in the year-end external audit, quarterly board meeting presentations, bank covenant calculation requirements, etc.
  • Assist in the coordination of the annual budget for both domestic and international operations, capital expenditure budgeting, etc.
  • Assist in the preparation of miscellaneous tax filings (annual state filings, sales and use tax, personal property tax, sales and use tax audits, etc.) as well as federal and state (apportionment) partnership tax return analyses.
  • Assist Director of Internal Audit in internal audits of freezer locations covering various areas including revenue, accounts receivable, internal controls, etc.
  • Becoming well-versed in existing company policies & procedures across multiple business areas, while applying professional accounting and auditing principles and standards to test and evaluate compliance.

  • Will perform other duties and special projects as needed.

Education/Experience:

  • B.S. in Accounting or Finance with CPA designation
  • Public Accounting experience preferred
  • CPA Preferred
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP
  • 3-6 years of public accounting firm in an audit capacity (experience w/manufacturing, warehousing, or logistics clients is a +)
  • Supervisory experience a plus
  • Willingness to travel (minimal travel)

Knowledge & Skill Requirements:

  • Ability to work independently and ability to meet time sensitive deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize & perform a wide variety of assignments.
  • Strong background and familiarity working with accounting system software (experience with Sage X3, Sage FAS (Fixed Assets), warehouse management billing system is a +) packages.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Strong Excel skills (Pivot tables, linking files, etc.)
  • Strong analytical skills and recommend changes to automate and streamline accounting processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate high level of independence to follow leads, research findings, and draw logical conclusions.
  • Ability to build effective relationships within the Finance team as well as in cross-functional areas with a variety of constituents.
  • Collaborative style & ability to gain trust and cooperation from others with varying business experience.
  • Calm approach to problem resolution and notifying direct reports of any major issues.
